EU to consider possibility of financing Moldovan farmers

The European Union will examine the possibility of providing financial assistance to the Moldovan agricultural producers so as to be able to overcome the difficult financial situation in which they found themselves after Russia imposed bans on the import of Moldovan fruit and vegetables, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle, said in a meeting with Prime Minister Iurie Leanca before the meeting of the European Action Group for Moldova, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the European financial assistance for the Moldovan farmers, the reformation of justice and the situation in the region were the main subjects discussed in the meeting of the two officials.

The Premier said that Moldova is taking measures to help the farmers export their products to the European market. Romania and Poland are the first states in the EU that opened their markets for Moldovan farmers.

Iurie Leanca noted that the justice reform is a priority on the European agenda of Moldova, underlining the necessity of transferring expertise in this area by bringing European judges to Moldova to provide assistance to the national judges.
