EU supports development of business incubators in Moldova
The Government plans to launch a network of five incubators in rural areas until the end of this year. Twelve companies will work at the incubator in Stefan Voda that was launched last week. Currently, there are selected the companies that will work at the incubator in Leova that will be opened soon. A sum of 15 million lei was earmarked for the next three incubators, in Rezina and Sangerei towns and in Cosnita village of Dubasari district. The money is provided as sector budget support by the EU through the Support to Rural Development Project, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The business incubators play a special role in supporting the small and medium-sized companies at the initial stage of their activity. By the concessions provided to entrepreneurs when renting production areas and units and the offered informational support, the companies overcome the initial difficulties easier and quicker identify markets and business partners,” Iulia Iabanji, director of the Organization for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Companies, said in a news conference on April 17.
She stated that the business incubator in Soroca is an example of fruitful work. It was launched two years and a half ago and is financed by the Government of Norway. “The 17 companies of the incubators initially created 70 workplaces. Now there are 119 workplaces,” said Iulia Iabanji.
The business incubators work as pubic institutions under the local public authorities. “It is important that they contribute to the development of incubators, including the identification of head offices and their repair. The companies working as part of incubators will transfer more taxes to the local budgets and will provide more goods and services to the local people,” stated Iulia Iabanji.
The local public authorities promised to contribute 0.5 million lei to the opening of the incubators in Rezina, Sangerei and Dubasari.
