The Government approved the agreement on the financing of the budget support to justice program between the Moldovan Government and the EU that was signed in Brussels by Prime Minister Iurie Leanca and European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule on June 14, 2013. The agreement will be submitted to Parliament for endorsement, IPN reports.
The EU will provide €60 million for implementing the justice sector reform strategy that is aimed at building an accessible, responsible, efficient, independent, transparent and professional judicial system that will meet the rule of law standards and will protect the human rights.
On June 14, there was also signed an agreement on implementing the €30 million program in support of the current and new agreements between Moldova and the EU. It represents the second stage of the program to strengthen the institutional capacities of Moldova. The money will be also used to implement the Association Agreement, after it is initialled and signed.
