The acting Cabinet approved the agreement between the Government of Moldova and the European Union for financing the pilot regional development program and submitted it to Parliament for consideration. Under the agreement, the EU will provide €7 million for this project, IPN reports.
The program has two components: the first, of €2 million, envisions improving regional statistics, while the second, of €5 million, will be implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation for developing regional planning and compiling a list of investment projects.
The projects will cover five thematic areas: sewerage and water supply; solid waste management; rehabilitation of regional roads; enhancement of energy efficiency, and provision of support for developing entrepreneurship in regions. Afterward, these projects will be proposed for financing, including to potential foreign donors.
