The map-drawing system of Moldova will be made more transparent and accessible to the people. On November 17, there was launched the twinning project “Organization, optimization and computerization of the map-drawing process in Moldova” for which the EU allocated €1.2 million, IPN reports.
The project’s main beneficiary – the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre – will be helped to improve the map-drawing system by the European partners of this project: Swedesurvey, which is the state-owned overseas agency of Lantmäteriet (the Swedish
national mapping, cadastral, land registration authority), and the Croatia State Geodetic Administration.
Director general of the Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre Anatolie Ghilas said the cadastre system is an important source of information for the public administration, people and businessmen. Therefore, the launched project is welcome. The objective is to fully digitize the cadastre system by 2020.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola said that an improved map-drawing system will represent enhanced safety for the people as regards their right of ownership. A good map-drawing system will be in line with the best European practices.
Swedish Ambassador in Chisinau Ingrid Tersman said the project will bring transparency and predictability in this area. The project aims first of all to lay the legislative basis needed for ensuring greater transparency.
