EU official salutes PLDM decision
Miroslav Lajcak, head of the EU External Action Service's department for relations with the Eastern Neighbourhood, has saluted the decision made by the Moldovan Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) on Friday, May 6, to withdraw the candidacy of Victor Bodiu from the mayoral race in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a press release from the Moldovan Government, the EU official stated at a meeting with PM Vlad Filat, the president of the PLDM, that this decision further consolidated the democratic forces in Moldova and was a strong signal for all.
Miroslav Lajcak said he came to Chisinau in order to celebrate Europe Day together with the Moldovan nation. He reiterated the EU's support for the Moldovan government on the European integration path, encouraging the authorities to continue the reforms started in this respect.
