EU offers Moldova €12 million under water supply projects
Moldova will get over €12 million from the European Union to implement projects for improving water supply. This amount represents the second installment of a 2009 financing agreement for the Water Sector Support Program, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The first €15 million installment was used to build 10 kilometers of water piping and sanitary sewer, replace equipment at 37 water pumping stations and at 11 sewer pumping stations.
To obtain the third installment in the amount of €13 million, the Ministry of Environment will develop and adopt secondary legislation to facilitate implementation of the Water Law and of the World Bank-funded National Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and will ensure access to water for over 55,000 citizens.
The total budget of the Water Sector Support Program is €50 million.
