EU offers 105 million euros for Moldova’s Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund

By the end of this year, 105 million euros will be disbursed to the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund, after an amendment to this effect was signed on Thursday between the Moldovan Government and the European Commission.

On behalf of the European Commission, the document was signed by Gert Jan Koopman, Director-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations. Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba signed on behalf of Moldova.

The 105 million euros installment is part of the 250 million euros package announced by the Commission last year.

The signing event was also attended by Moldovan President Maia Sandu and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, visiting Chisinau.

Maia Sandu stated that the support of the European Union in these difficult years proves that solidarity is the foundation on which the EU was established and functions. “That is why Moldova wants to join the big European family”, declared the Moldovan president.
