EU is ready to discuss demilitarization of security zone, Dirk Schuebel

{Repeat from January 4 } Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel expresses regret over the tragic death of the young man from Parata village, and confirms the European Union’s readiness to participate in discussions on the demilitarization of the security zone. “I would like to express deep regret over this unfortunate incident that led to the tragic death of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova, Vadim Pisari. We hope for an objective and impartial investigation into this incident by the Russian and Moldovan authorities,” the Ambassador told Info-Prim Neo. Concerning the renewal of discussions, following the incident, about the need for demilitarization of the security zone, Dirk Schuebel commented: "The EU side is looking forward to a successful next round of talks in the 5+2 format in Dublin. We confirm our readiness to participate actively in discussions on the demilitarization of the region and the corresponding transformation of the current peacekeeping operations on the Dniester into a mission under the auspices of the OSCE in the context of the Transnistrian conflict settlement,” said Dirk Schuebel, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova.
