Nicolae Andronic, the president of the People's Republican Party, thinks that Moldova's intended integration into the EU is just an opportunity to promote the image of Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca. He voiced this opinion at a public debate on the theme of “The culture of the relationship between the government and extra-parliamentary parties”, organized by Info-Prim Neo. The politician believes that the adoption of the most recent two laws under the Moldova-EU Action Plan is not enough to bring about a liberalized visa regime with the EU as promised by the government. “I, as extra-parliamentary opposition, look at things from a totally different perspective. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister have already transformed this into an opportunity to promote themselves, presenting it in a fashion that they want this integration while others not so much, so that in case of failure they can blame other components of the Alliance”, stated Nicolae Andronic. Andronic went on to criticize the components of the Alliance for engaging in actions that compromise the entire idea of European Integration, distancing the population's expectations from this goal. The public debate on the theme of “The culture of the relationship between the government and extra-parliamentary parties” is part of a series of public debates held within the framework of the “Developing Political Culture through Public Debates” Project, supported by the German Foundation Hanns Seidel.
