The European Union's foreign ministers will be in Chisinau on September 1 to participate in a meeting of the Friends of Moldova Group, announced Romania's Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean.
Corlatean, one of the initiators of the gathering in Chisinau, said this is the first time EU's foreign ministers will hold a meeting in the Moldovan capital, in alternative to traditional hosts Brussels and Luxemburg.
“This is a meeting that will bring together the European Union's foreign ministers, with Moldovan Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman, of course, acting as host, and will represent an extremely clear political signal of support to this pro-European government in Chisinau, ahead of upcoming elections and in times when Moldova is facing a series of measures, challenges against its internal stability and national security”, said Titus Corlatean.
He also announced that later this month Bucharest will host the Days of Romanian Diplomacy, and the foreign ministers of Moldova, Ukraine and Georgia have confirmed their attendance during August 27-29.
