EU follows attentively political processes in Moldova

The European Union follows attentively the political processes taking place in Moldova and hopes that the initiated democratic reforms will continue, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel said in a meeting with President Nicolae Timofti that was held at the Presidential Residence on February 17, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a communiqué from the presidential press service, the two officials discussed the political situation in the country, in particular the disagreements excising inside the ruling coalition. The head of state informed Dirk Schuebel about the consultations he had the previous days with the leaders of the Alliance for European Integration, with whom he agreed to continue the discussions in the near future, until a solution to the created situation is identified. Nicolae Timofti assured the EU official that the current government and all its representatives remain faithful to the European integration idea and will keep the current development course of Moldova. The two officials underlined the importance of maintaining the legal and constitutional order in Moldova. In the same connection, Nicolae Timofti and Dirk Schuebel discussed issues concerning the relations between Moldova and the EU. They conferred on the stages that are to be covered for Moldova to sign the Association Agreement and obtain a liberalized visa regime with the European Union.
