EU Delegation inaugurates info center in Ungheni

A new European Union Information Center (EUI) has been opened in Ungheni on October 25 at Vasile Alecsandri Lyceum. As the EU Delegation to Moldova said in a press release, the center's mission is to provide citizens in western Moldova with free access to information about the European Union. The EUI provides the interested public with information and literature covering a wide range of areas, including EU programs and instruments for the European Neighborhood Policy countries, including Moldova; EU legislation, business rules and culture. Since 2007, eight EUIs have been opened in Moldova, including in Balti, Cahul, Comrat, Soroca and Ungheni. In the Moldovan capital, there are 3 such centres. The EUI network in Moldova receives free materials and literature from the Publication Office of the European Union, based in Luxembourg. Those willing to get information on the European Union are invited to visit the following institutions: “Constantin Stere” Lyceum (Soroca), Academy of Economic Studies, the State University of Moldova, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Moldova (Chisinau), Alecu Russo State University (Balti), Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu State University (Cahul), the Comrat State University (Comrat) and “Vasile Alecsandri” Lyceum, Ungheni. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Ambassador Dirk Schuebel, the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova.
