EU Delegation donates protective equipment for deaf and mute children of Chisinau

The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova donated a consignment of protective equipment for municipal special education institution No. 12, IPN reports, quoting a press release issued by the Chisinau City Hall.

The consignment consists of reusable masks that facilitate the communication between the teacher and students owing to the fact that these are transparent in the part where there is the mouth.

Attending the handover event, deputy mayor of Chisinau Angela Kutasevici thanked the EU Ambassador Peter Michalko for the provided support, noting that by such actions the right to education of the children with special needs is realized.

“Communications is very important in a society. These masks will help a lot the teachers to make themselves explicit and understood by children at the lessons,” stated the official.

Special school No. 12 is the only institution of Chisinau municipality for children with hearing impairments aged between 7 and 18. This is now attended by 73 children with hearing and associated impairments and 48 of these are fifth-ninth graders. The school was founded in 1981.
