The European Union believes the Communists should come closer to the government and should return to Parliament. Such an opinion was stated by the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Dirk Schuebel in a news conference on Tuesday, after he had the first meeting with the new President of Moldova Nicolae Timofti earlier the same day, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Dirk Schuebel, not only the Communist Party made mistakes in the past. The ruling alliance also made mistakes and these political forces should now improve relations for the country’s future. “The constitutional crisis in Moldova is over. It’s time for the ruling alliance and the opposition to cooperate. 40% of the persons who voted for the Communists should not be affected by the misunderstandings between the political forces,” said the EU official. As to Nicolae Timofti, the Ambassador said that he gives the impression of a gentleman who is ready to assume responsibilities. Dirk Schuebel said he was glad to hear that Nicolae Timofti wants to be the President of everyone, of all the political parties, including the opposition. “We spoke about the fact that the ruling alliance should reach the opposition and work together with it so that Moldova could move on. The President told me that he intends to hold discussions with the opposition,” stated Dirk Schuebel. He also said that Nicolae Timofti is a suitable President, especially in the context of the initiated reforms.
