The provisional implementation of the Association Agreement (AA) between Moldova and the European Union, which includes the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), will start on September 1, the EU Delegation to Moldova has said. The Delegation made public the measures proposed for further liberalizing the EU market for the Moldovan fruit in response to the restrictions on the trade with Moldova imposed by Russia, IPN reports.
The informative note of the Delegation says that besides the DCFTA, the European Commission is now working on measures to support its associate partner Moldova by further liberalizing access to the EU market.
The EU regrets Russian authorities’ recent decisions to ban the import of Moldovan products, including different types of fruit, and invites the sides to solve these problems in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organization so as to swifter remove the trade barriers.
In the middle of July, Russia imposed a ban on the import of fresh and canned fruit from Moldova. The EU reacted by doubling the import quotas on Moldovan apples, plums and table grapes.
