EU appoints new Special Representative for Moldova

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana appointed Monday, February12, Hungarian diplomat Kalman Mizsei as EU Special Representative for Moldova. EU Foreign Ministers have voted unanimously for this candidature. Earlier Kalman Mizsei held the position of UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Director for Europe and CIS. Mizsei has replaced Adriaan Jacobovits de Szeged in the office of EU Special Representative for Moldova. Jacobovits de Szeged was appointed in March 2005 the first EU Special Representative for Moldova. In 2002-2003 he was the OSCE Representative for Moldova.
