The Association Agreement with the EU will bring benefits to Moldova only if reforms are done and the recommendations of the EU are taken into consideration. Such statements were made by two EU ambassadors in the program “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola warned that the provisions of the agreements will remain unimplemented if the Government of Moldova does not bring things inside the country in order. “We want to see your country developing. The Association Agreement offers such possibilities. This accord contains a number of provisions that will help Moldova become competitive on the market. Therefore, the prices will fall and the products and services will become accessible. That’s why you must focus on the existing agreement. The problems in justice must be solved and corruption must be routed out if you want the Association Agreement to bring benefits,” stated the diplomat.
Slovak Ambassador to Moldova Robert Kirnag gave as example the experience of his country. “Slovakia had to implement reforms that were very painful. But we went on and managed to rehabilitate the economy. Some sustained losses because they could not adjust on time to the new conditions. It’s not excluded that the same will happen in your country and you must understand that the reforms imply sacrifices. But it was a good investment and the people’s expectations were met. For you to have results too, you must do reforms even if sacrifices are made,” he stated.
Chairman of the Small Wine Producers Association Ion Luca said they support the Association Agreement with the EU and the wine producers will do their utmost to meet the conditions on the EU market. “We set the goal of working with stable partners and of establishing long-term relations with EU member states so as to become known on the European market. Russia’s ban came as a blow, but made us cross certain limits and go further, see certain mistakes and correct them,” he stated.
