EU Ambassador discusses incident in Security Zone with Premier
The European Union will continue to contribute to the identification of a viable solution to the Transnistrian conflict, the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, Ambassador Dirk Schuebel said in a meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Karpov on January 4, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the executive, the officials discussed subjects regarding Moldova’s European agenda and the incident that happened on the bridge near Vadul lui Voda on January 1.
Speaking about this incident that resulted in the death of Vadim Pisari, Vlad Filat expressed his regret, saying the authorities took all the measures needed to ensure an objective investigation.
Dirk Schuebel congratulated the Government of Moldova on the way it fulfilled the commitments concerning the European integration in 2011. He said the EU will continue to support Moldova on the path to reforms and democratization and hopes that 2012 will be as good as last year.
Vlad Filat stressed that Moldova managed to fulfill all the commitments made to the EU, but the non-election of the head of state remains a shortcoming at internal level. He voiced hope that this objective will be achieved in 2012 will calmness and reason.
