Estonia is a loyal supporter of Moldova in its European integration efforts

Moldova achieved important results in the European integration process and this will lead to the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU in Vilnius, considers the President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves. He made the statement in a news conference given in Chisinau after a meeting with Moldova’s President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.

Estonia is a loyal supporter of Moldova in its European integration efforts as it covered the same path, said the Estonian head of state. “It is a difficult process, but the good news is that you can ultimately become a member of the EU. You can count on us when you experience certain problems,” said Toomas Hendrik Ilves.

As to the economic pressure exerted by Russia on Moldova, the Estonian official said this pressure will only make the Moldovan wine producers to improve the quality of the wine. Similar pressure was put on Estonia and it made the country to become more powerful and competitive. Toomas Hendrik Ilves assured that Estonia will continue to cooperate with Moldova in different areas. In the near future there will be established cooperation relations in the E-government sector.

For his part, Nicolae Timofti assured the Estonian President that Moldova will maintain the pro-European course and will follow only this path.

Toomas Hendrik Ilves will be in Chisinau for three days and will celebrate the National Wine Day alongside the Moldovans. He is accompanied by a delegation of Estonian businessmen.
