Establishment of polling places on left side of the Nistru for Russia’s election is against law, NGO

The organization of the Russian presidential election in the Republic of Moldova, including in the Transnistrian region, takes place with violations of the international law and human rights. The Association “Promo-LEX” expresses its concern about the lack of coordination of the establishment of polling places in the Transnistrian region for the March 18 presidential election of Russia with the Moldovan authorities, IPN reports.

In a press release, the NGO said that 27 polling places were established in Moldova for the March 18 Russia’s presidential election. Of these, three were set up on the territory controlled by the constitutional authorities, while 24 in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

“Promo-LEX” expresses its regret at the way in which it was decided to establish the 24 polling places in the Transnistrian region. The Association considers these acts, which do not seem to be coordinated with the authorities of the Republic of Moldova, run counter to the diplomatic norms and confirm once again that namely the Russian Federation de facto controls the administration of the Transnistrian region.
