Epidemic of acute diarrheic diseases in Transnistria
The Transnistrian region is experiencing an epidemic of acute diarrheic diseases, Info-Prim Neo’s correspondent reports.
Such an announcement was made by the head of the epidemiology division of the Transnistrian Hygiene and Epidemiology Center Alexandr Peciul. The epidemiologic process in Bender and Dubasari became more acute, while the situation in Tiraspol, Rabnita and Grigoriopol is considered alarming. The cholera vibrio is identified in 46% of the samples taken from the Nistru River. Presently, 67% of those affected by acute diarrheic diseases are children.
The recent flood waters inundated not only houses in Transnistria, but also the waste dumps and latrines. The toilet on the Tiraspol beach was also flooded. Many domestic animals got drowned and remained for a long time in the water.
The residents of Speia village for example say that the flood waters inundated an animal cemetery. Land and water samples were taken in the given region to be tested for anthrax, but the results have not been made public yet.
