Eolian park to be created in Moldova
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is ready to invest in the production of renewable energy in Moldova. Representatives of the organization approved of the investment climate as regards the renewable sources of energy in Moldova and the favorable natural conditions for producing eolian electric power, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Economy.
The IFC’s intention to invest in the production of renewable energy in Moldova was stated in a meeting with representatives of the International Finance Corporation, which forms part of the World Bank Group, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar.
Ana Maria Mihaiescu, head of the IFC Mission for Romania and Moldova, said the IFC intends to take part as a stakeholder in a project developed by the international company “Renovatio” in Moldova. This is the first project of the kind in the region, while the corporation will finance the investment through the Global Infrastructure Project Development Facility “IFC-InfraVentures”. It was created in 2009 with a budget of US$100 million to support and attract private capital to infrastructure development projects, both private and implemented under public-private partnerships.
The IFC officials expressed readiness to provide technical assistance in the area of renewable energy.
Valeriu Lazar welcomed the companies’ intention to set up an eolian park in Moldova and promised to provide political and administrative assistance in implementing the project. At the Government’s request, Parliament introduced new tax stimuli for producing renewable energy. The taxes on the import of electrical generators with a capacity higher than a megawatt were annulled in 2012.
“Renovatio” is an international group of companies developing renewable wind and solar energy projects. They work in Romania, Poland, Greece, Bulgaria, Italy and Portugal.
