Staring with 2023, the public authorities, civil society organizations and entrepreneurs in Moldova will be able to file applications to receive financing for environmental projects within the EU’s Environment Program of. This became possible following the promulgation of the law on the ratification of the Agreement with the EU on Moldova’s participation in LIFE – Program for the Environment and Climate Action, IPN reports.
According to President Maia Sandu, the program will bring the European environmental standards to Moldova. The project ideas can be different, but they should promote transition to a circular economy that is efficient from energy viewpoint and resistant to climate change, and the improvement of the quality of the environment by diminishing the sources of pollution and the loss of biodiversity.
“The people in Moldova deserve to live in a cleaner environment. We can obtain this by common efforts, with the involvement of everyone and with the support of the European partners,” noted Maia Sandu.
A number of 5,600 projects have been co-financed so far through the agency of the LIFE Program. The budget for 2021 – 2027 was planned at about €5.43 billion.
