Environment Agency: Authorization of felling of dry trees is given priority

The authorization of felling of dry trees or trees that pose a threat to citizens is given priority and permits are issued on time, the Environment Agency assured, calling the criticism leveled by the mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban as unfounded, IPN reports.

In a comment sent to the editorial office of IPN, the Environment Agency says the mayor’s assertions that a lot of requests continue to be neglected or rejected by the Environment Agency and that many trees need to be dealt with immediately, but permits for them are not being issued are not based on facts and promote personal interpretations of particular persons and are, in essence, false.

According to the Agency, only one decision to reject the request to cut down 30 trees was made in the recent past. The reason was that the municipal Green Areas Association, in the phytosanitary document concerning the state of trees, wrote that the trees represented an impediment to the works to rehabilitate the sidewalk and roadway. The trees weren’t dry or didn’t pose a threat.

During May 27 – June 6, 271 dry trees were cud down, while 272 trees were clipped. As many as 131 trees were felled and trimmed in “Valea Morilor” Park in Chisinau during one day.
