Entry into European Union or Eurasian Union: 48% to 37%

In a referendum where the voters will have to choose between Moldova’s entry into the European Union and its entry into Eurasian Economic Union, 48% would select the first option, while 37% the second option. Some 15% of the respondents of a poll didn’t want to answer or didn’t know what to answer. The poll was commissioned by the Foundation for a Modern Democracy to the  Institute for Marketing and Polls IMAS, IPN reports.

Asked if they would vote for or against Moldova’s entry into the European Union in a referendum, 49% said  they would vote for, 31% said they would vote against, 4% said they would not take part, 15% said they don’t know or didn’t decide, while 2% didn’t answer. Some 44% would vote for entry into the Eurasian Economic Union (Customs Union), 33% would vote against, 5% would not take part, while 17% don’t known or didn’t decide and 2% didn’t answer.

17% of those polled would vote for entry into the NATO, 57% would vote against, 5% would not take part, 19% don’t known or didn’t decide and 3% didn’t answer.

23% of the respondents would vote for Moldova’s union with Romania, 62% would vote against, 4% would not take part, 11% do not known or didn’t decide and 1% didn’t answer.

Asked about the orientation Moldova should have after the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019, 34% of those surveyed said “Pro-Moldova”, 33% - “Pro-European”, 20% – “Pro-Russia. 6% – “Pro-union with Romania”, while 7% don’t known or didn’t answer.

The poll covered a sample of 1,475 respondents older than 18 from 114 localities and was conducted between October 20 and November 9 this year.
