Alexandr Bairactar, an entrepreneur from Găgăuzia, said he is the “victim of the oligarchic regime”. He noted that criminal proceedings were instituted against him by order of Vitalie Busuioc, former prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases, who is loyal to the former leader of the Democratic Party Vlad Plahotniuc. Consequently, he remained without his business and served seven months in jail. The man related his story in a news conference at IPN.
It started in December 2016. Alexandr Bairactar said he was arrested by Vitalie Busuioc in Comrat, being accused of tax evasion and money laundering together with his accountant. In six months, at the end of the workday, he was invited and went to the prospector’s office together with his lawyer. There, they were locked in an office and offered an hour to familiarize themselves with the large volume of materials of the case in the absence of electricity. Later, the case was transmitted to the Chisinau City Court. All the proofs show the criminal case was a pretext for jailing him. In the period, the firm didn’t work and debts of 6 million lei accumulated.
Alexandr Bairactar related that while he was under arrest, his relatives were threatened and forced to concede the firm’s agricultural machinery to the value of over 4 million lei. The machinery was taken on the instruction of Busuioc. In total, the firm lost about 10 million lei. “When I was in custody, my relatives were told that to solve the problem, they should pay €150,000-270,000. It was a case started by order so as to appropriate our business,” he stated.
According to the entrepreneur, at the last hearing it turned out that the place of the offense wasn’t determined and there were unidentified persons included in the case. One of those who gave testimony renounced it and admitted that he was forced by prosecutor Busuioc to sign empty pages so that statements could be written there later. Another person involved in this case complained to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office that the investigation bodies forced him to make statements, threatening him with detention. Almost five years have passed since then, but Alexandr Bairactar was never questioned in this case.
The entrepreneur also said that while he was in custody, the members of his family developed diseases due to stress. “I want this Busuioc to hear: I will never forget this nightmare that was experienced by me and my family. I’m sure he will answer before the law,” stated the man.
