The most important entrance to Orhei town – the ‘gate’ from the direction of the capital city – is being essentially transformed. By order of mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor, reconstruction and laying out works were started there. The first changes are already visible, IPN reports, quoting a communique of the Orhei mayor’s office.
Important reconstruction works are being carried out on the streets 31 august and Chisinaului, near the entrance to Orhei from the direction of the highway M2. Until recently, this entrance looked terribly, with dirt around and uncared-for grass. As there were no curbstones, the street was always full of soil, mainly after rain. There were no markings there.
The scenery will soon change. The results of the reconstruction works started a week ago are already noticeable. All the flowerbeds and road delimiting portions were restored. There were installed 800 meters of curbstones. Stone sidewalks were built around the flowerbeds so that the pedestrians could cross the area without facing dangers. An area of 400 square meters was paved. The destroyed asphalt sections will be repaired the coming days.
The whole lighting system on Chisinaului St is being repaired and the lantern that is in the middle of the flowerbed is being restored.
Teams of workers began greening works. Today they installed pipes for automated irrigation systems for the variety of plants and the lawn that will appear there the coming days.
A portion of the road going near the Raut River is being rehabilitated. The workers built a drainage channel, set up curbstones and build sidewalks. A section of the roadway is to be asphalted.
When the given works are completed, the streets will be marked. Mayor Ilan Shor ordered that the works should be finished by August 25.
