Entitlement to pension, other benefits approved for Moldovans in Turkey

The Moldovan Cabinet today approved a bill to ratify the Moldova-Turkey Social Security Agreement, which was signed in Chisinau on 5 May 2017, IPN reports.

The Agreement offers social guarantees for Moldovans working temporarily in Turkey. They will be entitled to age pensions, as well as maternity benefits, unemployment benefits, temporary disability benefits, death benefits and survivor’s pensions.

In calculating the pensions and other benefits, each country will apply the respective domestic law and will pay out those benefits based on the principle of proportionality depending on the periods of time spent working in the respective country.

Moldova has bilateral social security agreements signed with a number of states including 13 EU member countries.
