Entire Socialist parliamentary group goes to Moscow

The whole parliamentary group of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM) will pay a visit to Russia’s State Duma, at the invitation of the head of the faction of the Party “Spravedlivaia Rossia” (“Just Russia) Sergei Mironov. This is the first trip of the kind since Moldova proclaimed its independence, the leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon said in a meeting with Russia’s Ambassador to Moldova Farit Muhametshin in the evening of January 26. The visit to Moscow was scheduled for January 29-30, IPN reports.

According to a communique of the PSRM, the sides underlined the importance of this visit given that it is for the first time in the history of the independent Moldova that the entire parliamentary group of a Moldovan party pays such a high-level visit to Russia.

While in Moscow, besides the bilateral meeting between the factions of the PSRM and “Spravedlivaia Rossia”, the Moldovan Socialists will also meet with the administration and representatives of the committees of the Russian legislative body and with the chairman of the State Duma Sergey Naryshkin.

Igor Dodon and Farit Muhametshin also discussed the plan of activities that will be staged by the Party of Socialists to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the victory in World War II. They agreed that the efforts of the Embassy of Russia, the PSRM and civil society will be united with a view to holding more events to mark this victory.
