Ensemble “Fluieras” celebrates 70 years of foundation

The ensemble of folk music and dances “Fluieras” marked the 70th anniversary of its foundation by a festive concert on April 29. The event was also dedicated to the band’s manager, artist Sergey Lunkevich, who would have turned 81 on this day, IPN reports.

Minister of Culture Monica Babuc expressed her admiration and gratitude for the ensemble’s long activity and considerable contribution to promoting the national music and artistic values. “Sergey Lunkevich, who had headed the ensemble “Fluieras” during over four decades, became its symbol and one of the symbols of the national culture. This exclusive fiddler merged with his violin every time he performed. He remained memorable in our national culture owing to his rare culture and exceptional modesty,” said the minister.

Founded at the State Philharmonic in 1945, the ensemble of folk music and dances “Fluieras” is one of the first professional bands created in Moldova. Its performances in Moldova and another over 50 countries were highly appreciated by the lovers of folk music.
