In Chisinau, the enrollment of children in grade one will be extended until August 30. Principals received the system’s approval for the second stage of processing applications, so that parents have greater clarity regarding whether their applications have been accepted or not. To date, more than 6,700 students have already been enrolled and more than 2,400 applications pending. The clarifications were made by Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports (DGETS), IPN reports.
Andrei Pavaloi says enrollment has been completed for the tenth grade, with 4,800 students accepted. There are vacancies left in some schools, 103 in total, which will likely be filled by students who are seeking a place in a vocational institution, but who will ultimately be rejected.
As concerns early education institutions, Andrei Pavaloi says that repair works have been fully completed in 56 out of 88 institutions that were scheduled for renovation; in 25 institutions repair works are done at an extent of 85-95%; and in seven others the degree of completion is 20-60%. Repairs in secondary institutions are largely completed.
Andrei Pavaloi also said that there are many requests to extend the working hours of early education institutions, from 1:30PM 7:00PM. A work group at DGETS is studying the situation and will come up with proposals for the Municipal Commission on Emergency Situations.
The education system in Chisinau includes 331 educational entities, including 58 institutions with financial autonomy, of which 50 are secondary institutions.
