A new energy-independent rescue and fire station was inaugurated in Căinari village of Causeni district. High-performance technologies were used to erect the building and this is among the first units in which energy security was ensured by installing heat pumps and photovoltaic panels, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations said that the station was equipped with three heat pumps and a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 55 kw, which provides the building with renewable energy throughout the year. The implementation of the project was possible thanks to the Assistance Facilitation Cooperation Agreement concluded between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America on March 21, 1994.
The Căinari Rescue and Fire Station is a local subdivision of the Causeni Regional Division for Emergency Situations. The building was modernized, being erected from the ground up according to European standards, which will improve the intervention capacities of firefighters and will increase the degree of protection of citizens, noted the Inspectorate.
The station includes offices, four boxes for intervention trucks, multifunctional rooms, specially designed spaces for storing equipment.
The rescuers and firefighters who will work in the unit will serve about 24 localities, including 13 of Causeni district, six of Ialoveni district and five of Anenii Noi district.
The Căinari Rescue and Fire Station was built on the basis of the U.S. Assistance Program within which a total of US$910,000 was offered.
