Energy Efficiency Fund becomes functional
The Cabinet has approved the Methodology of Calculating Energy Audit Costs, this being the last piece of the legislation necessary to make the Energy Efficiency Fund a functional body, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Economy Minister Valeriu Lazar stated that the document will help to employ a unitary mechanism for forming costs of audit services in the process of implementing energy efficiency projects, and this will help to create a free and competition-based market for energy auditors where the quality of the provided services is pivotal.
The government has allocated 160 million lei from the 2013 State Budget to the Energy Efficiency Fund to finance projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency. The amount of 100 million lei left over from this year will also be spent next year.
The Methodology of Calculating Energy Audit Costs will be applied to projects implemented with the support of the Fund as well as within the framework of other energy efficiency projects implemented by the central or local authorities.
