Energocom purchased 10 million cubic meters of gas at the price of €997 per 1,000 m3. The amount will be stored in underground reservoirs in Ukraine and will be used in the Republic of Moldova if Gazprom stops supplying natural gas or cuts supplies, IPN reports.
This is the first purchase made in the framework of the Security of Natural Gas Supply Project. The tender contest held by Energocom involved companies that prequalified in accordance with the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the company noted in a press release.
Energocom received the 100 million diversification tranche under the loan agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EBRD for implementing the Security of Natural Gas Supply Project.
As part of this project, Energocom will continue to stage tender contests to buy natural gas and ensure the Republic of Moldova’s energy security, said the company.
