The employment of persons with disabilities can contribute to the improvement of their life. When having a job, the persons with special needs become more motivated and more independent financially and do not depend on the assistance of the family or the state. Secretary of the Alliance of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities Galina Climov said that a job helps these increase their independence and places them in the category of persons who contribute to the development of society, which is very important.
In a news conference at IPN, Galina Climov underlined the importance of fighting discrimination, stigmatization and stereotypes referring to this category of people. “Employment is an important step when we speak about social inclusion. We should not think that inclusion exists only as a term and cannot be developed in our society. Each person, on the own initiative and by dedication, can offer support to those who need it, forming thus a more inclusive society, with increased and equal chances for each citizen apart,” stated Galina Climov.
The Alliance of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities implements the Partnerships for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities Project one of whose goals is to promote employment. In this regard, a number of advocacy approaches were made to the competent authorities so as to increase the number of employed persons with disabilities. There was carried out an analysis of the labor market in terms of the inclusion of persons with disabilities.
In Moldova there are about 186,000 persons with disabilities. The situation of most of these can be changed if the approach centers on the needs and skills of each person apart.
The news conference was held within the Partnerships for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities Project that is implemented by the Alliance of Organizations for Persons with Disabilities within the program “Common Initiative to Promote Equal Opportunities” that is carried out by East Europe Foundation and the Partnership for Development Center with the resources provided by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Government of Sweden and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark/DANIDA.
