Employers stage Forum of Businesspeople on November 12

The National Employers Confederation of Moldova (CNPM) will hold the Forum of Businesspeople on November 12. According to the Confederation’s chairman Leonid Cerescu, they aim to inform the authorities about the obstacles faces by the businesses and to put forward policies for overcoming them. The forum will take place at the Palace of the Republic, starting at 10am, IPN reports.

According to Leonid Cerescu, the Moldovan businessmen encounter a number of constraints, including political influence, the poor infrastructure, the inefficient dialogue between the government and businessmen and the lack of skilled labor force.

The forum organized by the CNPM will involve representatives of the International Labor Organization and such Moldovan officials as Minister of Finance Anatol Arapu, Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar, the head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veaceslav Ionita and the head of the commission on social protection, health and family Vladimir Hotineanu.

The representatives of the CNPM will inform about the results of the study “Major constraints on the business sector of Moldova” that was commissioned by the Confederation. There will be suggested policies for dealing with them, including for ensuring a transparent and predictable regulatory framework for private initiatives, and free and loyal competition, for eliminating political favoritism, reducing the underground economy, and adjusting the Labor Code to the economic realities.

At the end of the forum, there will be proposed a memorandum of cooperation between the business sector and the government, aimed at improving the dialogue and promoting policies designed to ameliorate the situation of the national businesses.
