Employees working part time will have same rights as other salary earners

The employees with reduced working hours will have the same rights as those who work full time. These will not be limited in rights when their length of service, insurance period, length of the annual leave are calculated. The law that provides for the modification and supplementation of the Labor Code was published in the Official Gazette on August 25, IPN reports.

At the request of pregnant women, salary earners who care for children younger than 10 or with disabilities, of any age, or who take care of a sick family member, the employee is obliged to decide a partial workday or workweek for them by proportionally distributing the workload. The less favorable treatment of salary earners working part time is not allowed.

The changes to the Labor Code ban the involvement of pregnant women, women who gave birth recently or those who breastfeed in underground works or any other activity that poses a threat to their health and security or can have repercussions for the pregnancy or breastfeeding. If it is possible, these women are assigned to another job and the average salary received at the previous job is maintained.

Also, the pregnant women, women who gave birth recently or those who breastfeed will not be given night shifts and will be offered day work by keeping the average pay received at the previous job. If the transfer to another job is not possible, these will be exempted from their duties, but the average salary for the days that they could not work will be maintained.

The women with children younger than three, if they cannot fulfill their obligations, are transferred to another job and the average salary received at the previous job is maintained until the children turn three.
