Employees do not deserve their salaries – experts
The cost of the human resources in Moldova is high, because both the specialists with higher education and the employees working in the companies of Moldova do not provide the efficiency recommended by international standards for the workforce.
Iurie Muntean, representative of the Centre for productivity and competitiveness in Moldova said on Wednesday, July 25 during the debate themed “Increasing the efficiency of companies” within the process on finishing the National Development Plan (NDP), that a foreign engineer works seven times faster than a Moldovan one.
According to Head of the Department for Structural Policies of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, the main factors which affect the productivity and efficiency of companies are poor investments and lack of modern technologies, unofficial payment of salaries and inappropriate working conditions, low-quality management, low corporative responsibility, degradation of the present scientific potential and the deficiencies in implementing the results of the research activity.
NDP for 2008-2011 envisages endowing the educational system with advanced equipment, especially for the technical and technological specialities, improving working conditions and employees’ security in companies, encouraging a good employer-employee relation and spurring the higher social corporative responsibility.
To increase the competitiveness of the national economy, NDP stipulates improving the business environment, promoting the small and mid-sized business, increasing the efficiency of companies, developing the research-development field and the infrastructure.
The state decided to influence the competitiveness of the economy by creating and maintaining institutional, economic and infrastructure conditions, which would encourage the creation, attraction and development of companies producing goods and provide high quality services at prices lower than of the foreign competitors.
