Eminescu honored at National Palace
On Mihai Eminescu’s birthday the Chisinau City Hall will organize a commemorative concert “Time goes by, time comes along” featuring Eugen Doga. Lucia Culev, head of the Culture department, said the show should really be special. Most of the songs included in the programs are based on Eminescu’s poems, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Composer Eugen Doga will be accompanied by the National Chamber Orchestra. Besides, Ionel and Alexandru Manciu, Maria Mocanu, Vocile Primaverii chorus, actor Nicolae Jelescu, the ensemble Concertino and ballet dancers Alexei and Cristina Terentiev will perform as well. There will also be two guests from Romania: Paula Selling and Ovidiu Cernautean.
The spectators will listen to songs with lyrics by Mihai Eminescu, Grigore Vieru, Adrian Paunescu, Nichita Stanescu and Arcadie Suceveanu.
161 years ago, January 15, Romanian poet and thinker Mihai Eminescu was born. On Monday, January 17, 2011, Chisinau City Hall will organize the tribute show “Longing for Eminescu”, performed by the renowned Romanian actor Ion Caramitru at the National Theater Mihai Eminescu. The artist worked on a new version, adding fragments from the poet’s poetry, prose and philosophy works to the already known lyrics. Caramitru will be accompanied by famous Romanian clarinetist Aurelian-Octav Popa.
