Emil Gutu under arrest for 20 days
The Social-Democratic municipal councilor Emil Gutu will be under arrest for 20 days. The decision was passed by the Buiucani Court on May 8, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Angela Starinschi, spokeswoman for the Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime, said that Emil Gutu will remain at the Center’s isolator.
The councilor is investigated for misuse of power and passive corruption.
He was arrested on May 5 in connection with the investigation into corruption acts at the Chisinau City Hall and was brought to trial 72 hours later.
Emil Gutu is the financial director of an agricultural tools and equipment company.
Gutu entered the Chisinau Municipal Council as representative of the PSD, which was then headed by Eduard Musuc. Later, the party merged with the Social Democracy Party led by Dumitru Braghis, who became the leader of the new party.
