Emil Constantinescu visits Academy of Sciences
The former President of Romania Emil Constantinescu (1996-2000) is paying a working visit to the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, where he will meet with the Academy’s director Gheorghe Duca and the administration of the Supreme Scientific Forum of Moldova, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting sources in the Academy.
The second President of Romania after 1989 will be familiarized with the work of the Education Cluster and will visit the Academic High School for talented children and the Innovational University of the Academy in order to establish cooperation relations in preparing scientists.
Doctor of Geology and lecturer Emil Constantinescu is paying this visit as leader of the Romanian civil society and as head of the Romanian Foundation for Democracy, which provides support to the universities of the neighboring countries in implementing the standards of the Bologna Process.
Emil Constantinescu was born in Tighina town, which is now in Moldova. He was the first Romanian head of state to win the highest Moldovan state award – the Order of the Republic. It was offered to him in 2000 by the then President of Moldova Petru Luchinski.
