“Romania is an emissary on Moldova's European road. The history is on our side,” Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc said after he had a meeting with Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu in Chisinau on March 31, Info-Prim Neo reports. Emil Boc and Mihai Ghimpu said they spoke about the Convention on Small-Scale Border Traffic that took effect on March 31, the €102 million worth of financial assistance provided by Romania and other economic and social projects. “Romania will encourage the Romanian businessmen to invest in modernizing Moldova's infrastructure as those who will invest now will emerge victorious at the end of the crisis,” Emil Boc said. He also said that Romania will continue to make approaches to Brussels and ask that the Moldovans applying for Romanian visas be freed from the obligation of proving that they own €500, though it is not easy. Mihai Ghimpu stated he and Emil Boc discussed the signing, in the near future, of a document that would ensure the social protection of the Moldovans working in Romania. He also said that they agreed to implement the projects discussed with Romanian President Traian Basescu late in January. “Moldova has a good chance to be supported by Romania on the road to Brussels,” Ghimpu said. Asked who will be named Moldovan Ambassador in Bucharest, Mihai Ghimpu said he assured Emil Boc it will be a professional. On April 27-28, Mihai Ghimpu will pay a working visit to Bucharest, as he and Traian Basescu agreed during a phone conversation.
