The Scientific Research Institute on Mother and Child Health Protection has inaugurated an Emergency Reception Section that will provide medical assistance to children in a critical condition. The new section was endowed with modern medical equipment and an integrated system of medical gases within a Health Ministry project implemented through the Moldovan-Swiss REPEMOL Project “Regionalization of the Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care Services in Moldova,” Info-Prim Neo reports. The institution’s director Stefan Gatcan said this section is unique. One of the main benefits is that time will be saved when providing first aid to children in serious conditions. The section is situated on the first floor and this enables transporting the children from the ambulance directly to the section. Emergency Reception Section head Victor Shkarevnea said that owing to this project, the section has an area for receiving somatic patients and patients who need surgery, and a resuscitation hall outfitted with modern equipment, including ventilation apparatus and cardio-monitor. REPEMOL coordinator Silvia Morgoci said it is very important that the institution have everything that is needed to provide emergency medical services to children. “For this purpose, there was brought medical equipment, delivered through the REPEMOL Project. The medical personnel were trained so that they are able to deal with emergency pediatric cases in the best way possible,” she stated. The Swiss investments in the medical equipment for the Emergency Reception Section totaled about 3 million lei.
