Emergency Medicine Institute manager under investigation over suspicion of Covid bonus fraud

An executive at the Institute of Emergency Medicine is under investigation for allegedly awarding bonus pays under Covid-19 special arrangements in return for a total over 200,000 lei in kickbacks.

According to the National Anticorruption Center, the suspect was awarding the bonuses – a 100% supplementation of the standard wage, covered by the National Health Insurance Companies – to various doctors, nurses and auxiliary staff for time not actually worked.

The suspect’s home, office, and car were searched for evidence.
