Emergency medical services system to be reorganized soon

The emergency medical services system will be reorganized and the reform concept is to be worked out within two weeks. Such a request was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in a working meeting that centered on the shortcomings in the activity of the emergency pre-hospital medical assistance service, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.

The Premier said a preliminary analysis of the emergency medical services system conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection revealed a number of drawbacks, including the defective intervention system, a branchy organigram with too many chiefs and inefficient use of the available financial resources.

“The emergency medical services system urgently needs to be reformed. At the next stage, you should come up with a draft reform that will cover the structure, personnel and number of ambulances. This reform should be worked out and implemented as soon as possible. We will then have savings and people satisfied with the provided services,” noted Pavel Filip.

The Premier order to carry out an analysis of the necessity and efficiency of the works to repair and build emergency medical assistance units performed in the country during the past three years. “I want a separate analysis of the built substations and made investments. We built them because we had to do it or we spent the money inefficiently? The building should be argued and should depend on the number of inhabitants, location and necessity of combining forces with family medicine,” stated the Premier.

Currently, emergency medical services are provided by the National Pre-Hoopster Emergency Medical Assistance Center in cooperation with the AVIASAN service working under the Emergency Medicine Institute, the emergency departments of hospitals and other medical units.
