More than 360 people asked for emergency medical assistance on December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024, an increase of 50% on two ordinary days. Medical care was also needed by a person who was hurt by fireworks, but this wasn’t hospitalized and will receive outpatient treatment, IPN reports.
According to the Emergency Medicine Institute, out of the total number of patients, 74 needed hospitalization and the other patients received the necessary medical care and left. They will be under the supervision of the family doctor. During the two days, 57 surgeries were performed. Currently, all patients are in medium, stable condition.
Most of the emergencies that involved the patients who went to the hospital were surgical, gynecological, microsurgical, neurosurgical, neurological, dental, therapeutic, traumatological and urological ones.
Also, the victims of nine road accidents were taken to the Emergency Admissions Unit and two of them were hospitalized.
The AVIASAN National Service in the period was called out to transfer 15 patients, seven children and eight adults, between hospitals and for undergoing surgery.
