The cause of death of Liuba Babutchi, the woman who passed away in a beauty salon in the capital on January 30, has been determined as embolism. The information was confirmed by Minister of Internal Affairs Daniella Misail-Nichitin, IPN reports.
The results of the forensic medical examination have been forwarded to the prosecutors.
"The criminal investigation body has taken all the actions requested by the prosecution," the minister stated.
Two individuals have been charged in this case. Anesthesiologist Ecaterina Maniuc, who was arrested a week after the incident, remains in pre-trial detention.
The owner of the salon, a Ukrainian citizen, left the Republic of Moldova on the day of the tragedy through the Palanca border crossing. Although there were previous reports that she was in Spain, authorities have not confirmed this information.
"The authorities are exchanging information to determine the person's whereabouts, and depending on the actions required, the necessary procedures will be initiated," said Daniella Misail-Nichitin.
The General Prosecutor's Office has opened a criminal case for "negligent violation of medical care rules and methods, which resulted in the patient’s death."
The lawyer of the accused, Ecaterina Maniuc, claims that although his client was employed at the salon, she was not working as an anesthesiologist.
