Embassy of Romania announces annulment of appointments for consular services

The Embassy of Romania in Moldova said the appointments scheduled for receiving consular services are annulled as of March 16 in connection with the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program of work with the public at Moldova’s consular offices was restricted, IPN reports.

The measures apply to the consular services provided by the Embassy of Romania in Chisinau, Romania’s Consulate General in Bălți, Romania’s Consulate General in Cahul and the Consular Office in Ungheni.

In a press release, the Embassy says that the entire consular personnel remains at the disposal of the Romanian citizens to provide consular assistance in special situations and justified emergency consular services determined by special necessities, such as deaths, accidents, documents asked by the local authorities in connection with the pandemic, etc.

“Given the measures imposed by the local authorities, we urge understanding over the exceptional situation and ask you to follow and to respect further their recommendations. The successful overcoming of this delicate situation for us all, with a high level of exposure, depends on the good cooperation between institutions and citizen,” runs the press release.

Information about the consular services, program of consular offices and telephone numbers on which consular assistance can be received is available on http://www.mae.ro/romanian-missions; https://informatiiconsulare.ro/mae/; https://www.econsulat.ro/.

Information about the resumption of the normal work program with the public will be published on the website of the embassy and consular offices and will be communicated through the accounts on www.econsulat.ro.
