Embassy of Japan to be opened in Chisinau

An embassy of Japan will be opened next year in Chisinau, while by the end of this year Moldova will have an embassy in Tokyo. The announcement was made by Japan’s Ambassador to Moldova, based in Kyiv, Shigeki Sumi, in a ceremony held to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the launch of the Moldovan-Japanese 2KR Project, IPN reports.

“I assure you that I will make every effort to promote the relations between Moldova and Japan. When I have guests from Japan in Kyiv, I always serve them with Moldovan wine,” said the ambassador.

Asked if it’s true that he will be named Moldova’s Ambassador to Japan, ex-Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov, who is now the technical director of the Unit for Implementing and Administering the 2 KR Project, said: “I was made such an offer, but it is the Government that will decide. In fact, I’m already an ambassador to Japan, which I visited for tens of times within the 2 KR Project.”
